"So here, my first bottle of Armagnac is not the most popular Bas-Armagnac, but Ténarèze: Château de Pellehaut [...]. Because of the higher clay and limestone content, spirits in the Ténarèze, tend to more rigid at the beginning of their lives, unlike those in the Bas-Armagnac which are softer and fruitier. However, for Chateau de Pellehaut, the grapes are planted on the sandier soil which makes it benefit from both Ténarèze's structure as well as Bas' roundness. [...] I love it as a great sipper on any regular days, packed with fruit notes, but finished with spices, If you love bourbon or rye, or sometimes between such as Bourye, I would recommend this for you !"

Notre Oenologue :

"Une couleur dorée aux reflets ambrés. Un nez complexe où se mêlent les fruits comme le coing, les fleurs comme l'aubépine, le tout enrobé d'un caramel gourmand et suave. En bouche l'attaque est légère, sur les fleurs puis la chaleur du caramel chaud prend le dessus et s'installe un moment."

VERTDEVIN Magazine -b Château de Pellehaut – Folle Blanche 2001 – Armagnac Ténarèze : (Bottled in 04/2014).

The nose is fruity and offers power as well as a beautiful fruit. It reveals notes of Mirabelle plum, quince, dried orange and small notes of kumquat associated with fine touches of violet, dired zests of lime, toasted, a hint of gray pepper as well as fine hints of pâtisseries, cedar and an imperceptible hint of crème brûlée. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, well-built, elegant, gourmand, racy (terroir) and offers a beautiful acidulous frame, power, generosity, a beautiful finesse of the grain, minerality as well as a beautiful finesse of the grain. On the palate this Armagnac expresses notes of kumquat, cristallized orange and small notes of jam, dired citrus associated with fine touches of violet, pâtisseries, crème brûlée, a very discreet hint of cedar, nutmeg/spices as well as a very subtle hint of cocoa (in the background) and an imperceptible hint of pepper on the finish. Good persistence.
